Pandemonium, frantic calls, insane faxes, Starbucks runs, begging, pleading, unabashed status seeking, personal dignity (not to mention personal space) all but forgotten, and more…Yes, dear readers, New York Fashion Week has begun!!
Friday, February 1st, 2008… And not a moment too soon! With just about zilch red carpet doings going on these days, the next week promises to be a celebrity watcher’s dream. For a change, the question is not “Darling heart, what are your going to wear, because you must, must, MUST look amaaaaazing!” But rather, what are they going to wear?? So let’s begin: Firstly, expect to see the likes of Kate Bosworth (currently starring in Calvin Klein’s spring ad campaign), Jessica Simpson, Beyoncé Knowles, Claire Danes, Joss Stone, Rumer Willis, Courtney Love, Sophia Bush, Anne Hathaway and Emma Roberts to name a few, craning their necks on the catwalks.
And let us not forget the par-tays… NYC is a hard working town, but when it gets right down to it, they party just as hard. First there’s Erin Fetherston’s after party tonight at Rose Bar. We assume such Fetherston followers as Kirsten Dunst, Zooey Deschanel, and Karen Elson will be swinging by for congrats smooches. The parties continue tomorrow, with the Built By Wendy, indie fashion label after party at Werkstätte Gallery. Look for the Beastie Boys and a much touted mystery guest. And Rock & Republic’s after party, also tomorrow night at 1 Oak. The most star-studded event comes on Wednesday, when Madonna co-hosts a gala at the new Gucci store in Trump Tower to benefit UNICEF and her Raising Malawi charity. Miss Madge’s guest list includes Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony, Sean Combs, Lenny Kravitz, Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher, Lindsay Lohan, Drew Barrymore, Gwyneth Paltrow, Alex Rodriguez, Martha Stewart and Uma Thurman… and Lord knows who else! Performances by Alicia Keys and Rhianna are also planned.
With all that and more, keep your eyes peeled to the blogs… though with mercury retrograde, you might be more inclined to keep your eyes trained on People Magazine which should be transiting your e-mailbox like any minute now…
later, peeps!
